Ghajn Tuffieha Bay (11)Discover Malta’s food, culture, beaches and scenery all rolled into one.

With only the population of a medium sized British city, Malta possesses an abundance of unique sights and experiences that is startling. This little nation has its own culture, language, cuisine, history and topography that sets it apart from its neighbours.

It is not easy to understand how Malta ticks but it is well worth the effort to dig deeper than visiting the usual tourist sights. Despite having seen upward of thirty occupying nations passing over it, the country has maintained aspects of a free-spirited island culture that continues to entice visitors to its shores. From the love of food and family, to the devotion to their long Christian faith, the Maltese are lovers of life and are steadfastly patriotic. It is also true that few nations in the world have seen their very geography influenced so greatly by history than Malta. From the intriguing Victoria lines which span the breadth of the north of Malta to the imposing fortifications of Grand Harbour or indeed the deforestation that arose from empires building mighty naval fleets.

If you wish to see Malta’s amazing uniqueness, this is the perfect choice to help you unpeel the many layers that make up this entirely unique Mediterranean nation.

We will visit:

  • Is-Serkin Pastizzeria in Rabat where you can taste our traditional “Pastizz tal-pizzelli u pastizz tar-rikotta” (a Maltese pea cake and a cheese cake, included in the price)
  • the Chapel of Our Lady in Bingemma
  • the Victoria Lines at Fort Bingemma
  • the Ghajn Tuffieha Bay sandy beach

Fomm Ir-Rih (12)This off the beaten track hike allows you to discover the eye-popping Mediterranean scenery, in some of the most stunning and isolated scenic spots in Malta. This hike is ideal for the adventurous explorer.

It’s surprising but true that there are stunningly beautiful places in Malta that are so remote that few people know of them.  There are isolated, unspoilt stretches of cliff-lined coastline which are discovered and explored only by the most intrepid of visitors. While this is a shame on one hand, it has allowed for the sites to remain spectacular in their virgin form allowing those few who venture to see them to gain a greater reward.

If this appeals to you then this is the tour for you. Led by avid hiking guides, who themselves have a passion for the Maltese countryside, you will experience the very best that the Maltese countryside has to offer from the spectacular Bahrija cliffs, remote and dazzling saltpans, cliff top high crags and bays including the unspoiled bay of “Fomm ir-Rih” (Mouth of the wind), to building sized boulders sitting precariously on hillsides or sitting on the flat clifftops. It truly seems like a land of giants or an otherworldly set straight out of a science-fiction movie. Additionally, like everything else in Malta, it is impossible to separate history from the countryside, so we will visit the excavated “Wardija ta’ San Gorg” site, a former Bronze Age Fortified Settlement overlooking the spectacular Dingli Cliffs. Come and experience it all with us.

Important: this is a physically demanding hike, please wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes suitable for rough terrain which may be slippery when wet.

The_Grand_Harbour_20 (1)Take a step into our colourful and ancient past while visiting a megalithic temple followed by a tour of the Three Cities area, a historical journey through time!

It is said that Malta has more history per square kilometre than any place in the world. Well the Three Cities of Vittoriosa, Senglea and Cospicua can claim the same per square metre. It is staggering just how much there is to see in this area which lies at the heart of Malta.

We will drive through the city of Cospicua before reaching Vittoriosa, the site of the Great Siege, which saw one of the most pivotal battles fought in the history of the Mediterranean and many claim one of the most miraculous. As we walk around Vittoriosa and the Senglea Promenade, the Three Cities and your imagination will come alive with images of this battle. The crowning glory of the Three Cities is undoubtedly Fort St. Angelo, the monstrous sized fort at the head of the Vittoriosa peninsula. The fort juts out deep into Grand Harbour offering 360 degree views of Valletta, the Three Cities and the finest deep water harbour in the Mediterranean, if not the world, the Grand Harbour.

Nearby is the UNESCO World Heritage Listed site of the Tarxien Temples, which is one of the many megalithic temples of Malta. Older than the Pyramids in Egypt, the Tarxien Temples date back to 3100 BC and consist of three separate but connected temples which are the most intricately decorated of any of the megalithic temples of Malta. If you love ancient history or if you want to tell your friends you’ve been to one of the oldest free standing human structures on earth, you will want to visit the Tarxien Temples.

If you consider yourself more a traveller, rather than just a tourist, you probably would like to discover more than just the attractions which every tourist sees on their visit to Malta. Malta is a country that prides it self on being laid back and hassle free. Its long and event-filled history means that its culture and faith have been intertwined as has the nation’s politics, architecture and geography. Indeed, in Malta it’s very hard to ever separate these elements completely and that is what makes such a rich tapestry for visitors to discover. Even Malta’s history and industry have been interwoven with its geography, evidenced by the beautiful salt pans that line parts of its coastline.

From this tour you can see Malta the way the Maltese see it, while giving you context by drawing together its elements so that you will finish your trip with a better idea of what makes Malta tick. Why are some of the balconies in Malta made of wood and enclosed while others are open and made of stone or iron? Why is Maltese bread hard on the outside and soft in the inside? See the way that history has impacted the Maltese countryside, especially its coastline. Discover the architectural gems that lay at the heart of many a Maltese village and so much more.

We will visit:

  • Is-Serkin Pastizzeria in Rabat where you can taste our traditional “Pastizz tal-pizzelli u pastizz tar-rikotta” (a Maltese pea cake and a cheese cake, included in the price)
  • a typical Maltese village core in Attard
